The WKF and EKF President Antonio Espinós today met with the President of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Spyros Capralos in Athens (Greece).
The meeting was held in the capital of Greece as the city hosts the 2023 Karate 1-Series A this weekend. Karate’s progress around the world and the Karate event in the next edition of the European Games were on top of the agenda.
Mr Espinós highlighted the success of Karate at the European Games, with the discipline shining in the two editions of the multi-sport event thus far, in Baku 2015 and Minsk 2019. Mr Espinós and Mr Capralos were joined by the Secretary General of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Emmanuel Kolympadis, EKF Secretary General Davor Cipek, and Greek Karate Federation president Theodore-Margaritis Sietis.
After the meeting, the WKF and EKF President said:
“It was a great pleasure today to meet the EOC President Spyros Capralos and discuss how we can take Karate in the European Games to the next level. The Karate family is looking forward to the Karate competition of the next edition of the European Games in Poland, and we are ready to cause a sensation there, just as we did in Baku and Minsk.
Karate is highly committed to the success of the European Games, and we are pleased to note Mr Capralos’ support for the progress of Karate as well.”
