EKF and WKF President Antonio Espinós yesterday met the President of the City of Bielsko-Biala Jaroslaw Klimaszewski on the occasion of the Karate competition at the 2023 European Games.
The meeting at the Bielsko-Biala City Hall was also attended by EKF General Secretary Davor Cipek and the President of the Polish Karate Union Pawel Poltorzecki. The progress of Karate in the region and the development of the Karate event of the European Games in Bielsko-Biala were among the main points of the agenda.
EKF and WKF President Antonio Espinós said after the meeting:
“I want to thank Mr Klimaszewski for welcoming us at the City Hall today and for hosting this historic edition of the European Games. As a major hub of Karate in the country, Bielsko-Biala is the perfect venue for our sport here. Karate, once again, will showcase the many values of our sport in this our third appearance in the European Games, and we have the city of Bielsko-Biala to thank for their support. This city is also where the headquarter of the Polish Karate Union is located, so we feel very much at home here. “
Bielsko-Biala hosts the Polish Karate Open every year, one of the most prestigious international events in the sports calendar of the European Karate Federation. The Karate competition of the 2023 European Games is scheduled from June 22 to 23 in Bielsko-Biala. The sport has been part of the sports programme of the European Games in all three editions of the multi-sport event. The 2023 European Games Krakow-Malopolska is the biggest sports event in the continent after the Olympic Games in London 2012.
