Montenegro top medal table of Balkan Karate Championships for Seniors and Veterans

The 2023 Balkan Karate Championships for Seniors and Veterans were held in Tirana (Albania) from September 22 to 24. Montenegro topped the medal table with 13 medals, followed by Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Over 320 competitors from 11 countries participated at the event, thus making the tournament in Tirana the largest of its kind.

 

Top athletes such as Georgia-Archontia Xenos of Greece in Female Kata, Nejra Sipovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Female Kumite -55kg, Nikola Malovic of Montenegro in Male Kumite -84kg, and Djorde Tesanovic of Serbia in Male Kumite +84kg were among the gold medallists in Tirana.

 

In addition to the competition, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Balkan Karate Federation was held in Tirana. Headed by Davor Cipek, president of KFB and general secretary of EKF, and Slavoljub Piper, general secretary of KFB and vice president of EKF, the meeting served to highlight the growth of the organisation in years to come.

 

Hosted by Petrit Baba, president of the Karate Federation of Albania, the event had the participation of Endrit Hoxa, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports.

 

The next Balkan Championship for Cadets, Juniors, and U21 athletes will take place in Ljubljana from November 17–19, 2023.
