EKF General Secretary discusses progress of Karate with SportAccord President at SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit

The Assistant General Secretary of the World Karate Federation (WKF) Davor Cipek conversed with the President of SportAccord Prof Dr Ugur Erdener during the SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit in Birmingham, UK to review the strides made in the world of karate and explore avenues for collaboration between the WKF and SportAccord.

The conversation delved into various aspects, including the progress of karate as a sport and potential synergies between the WKF and SportAccord. Mr. Cipek emphasized the significant contribution of karate to multisport events and its evolving role within the international sports community. He highlighted the unique value that karate brings to the table, enriching the sporting landscape with its blend of tradition, skill, and values.

 

Moreover, Mr Cipek, who is also the General Secretary of the European Karate Federation and President of the Croatian Karate Union underscored the importance of fostering partnerships and alliances to further elevate karate’s profile on the world stage and thanked Prof Dr Ugur Erdener for his support in the progress of Karate.

 

Appointed to lead SportAccord in November 2023, Prof Dr Ugur Erdener is also the president of the Turkish National Olympic Committee, IOC member and the President of World Archery, among many other positions.
