The Executive Committee of the European Karate Federation (EKF) met in Zadar on the eve of the 59th EKF Senior Championships. The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, was led by EKF and World Karate Federation (WKF) President Antonio Espinós and had members of the Executive Committee in attendance, including the host of President of the Croatian Karate Union and EKF General Secretary Davor Cipek.
The meeting covered several important topics, such as preparations for the EKF Congress, which was scheduled for later in the day. The committee also reviewed the final arrangements for the EKF Senior Championships set to begin on Wednesday, along with reports from various EKF Commissions. Another key item on the agenda was planning for the EKF calendar in 2025, ensuring a solid framework for upcoming events.
President Espinós thanked the Croatian Karate Union and Davor Cipek for their hard work and commitment to hosting the week-long event. “We are grateful for the outstanding support from our Croatian hosts,” said Mr Espinós. “Their efforts have been instrumental in making sure we have a successful and memorable championship, most likely one of the best ever. Their dedication and contribution to the development of our sport are second to none and a model for National Federations around the world.

“Karate in Europe has seen tremendous progress in recent years, and it’s a testament to the contribution and enthusiasm of our federations, athletes, and coaches. We are witnessing a growing enthusiasm for the sport, with karate taking a more and more prominent role in the sports ecosystem and new talent emerging across the continent.
Espinós also emphasized the importance of this gathering as a platform for discussing key issues in karate and for fostering unity among the European federations. The meeting concluded with a sense of anticipation and optimism for the week ahead. As competitors and fans complete their arrival to Zadar, all eyes are on the 59th EKF Senior Championships, with a promise of thrilling competitions and a celebration of karate’s growth in Europe.
