WKF Assistant General Secretary Represents Karate at EUSA Conference in Vienna

Assistant General Secretary of the WKF and General Secretary of the European Karate Federation (EKF), Davor Cipel represented Karate at the 2024 European University Sports Association (EUSA) Conference, in Vienna, Austria.

EUSA, the governing body for European university sports, hosted its 2024 conference in Vienna, drawing over 150 representatives from various sports organizations, academic institutions, and governing bodies across Europe. The conference coincided with EUSA’s 25th anniversary, providing an opportunity to reflect on its achievements and discuss the future of university sports.

Participants were welcomed by EUSA President Adam Roczek, Austria’s Federal Minister for Education, Science, and Research Martin Polaschek, University of Vienna Vice-Rector Nikolaus Hautsch, International University Sports Federation (FISU) President Leonz Eder, and European Olympic Committees President Spyros Capralos.

A highlight of the celebration was a gala held at the historic Palais Liechtenstein in Vienna, bringing together delegates to honour EUSA’s legacy and its ongoing commitment to fostering community and athletic excellence.

Mr. Cipek’s participation in the EUSA Conference underscores the WKF and EKF’s commitment to integrating karate into grassroots and university-level sports. Representing karate within the European university sports framework aligns with the sport’s mission to promote physical fitness, discipline, and inclusivity among young athletes.
