EKF General Secretary Davor Cipek Meets IOC Member Danka Hrbekova During Grand Prix Slovakia

The 45th edition of the Grand Prix Slovakia provided the backdrop for high-profile meeting between European Karate Federation (EKF) General Secretary Davor Cipek and International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Danka Hrbekova.

The tournament, held in Bratislava, welcomed 2,400 athletes from 43 countries, making it a true celebration of karate. Among the distinguished guests, Mrs. Hrbekova, a Slovak skeet shooter and elected IOC member in 2022 for an eight-year term, attended the event to witness the remarkable display of talent and skill firsthand.

During their meeting, Mr. Cipek, who also serves as a World Karate Federation (WKF) Executive Committee member, highlighted the excellence of karate and its strong presence on the international stage. He emphasized the sport’s values of discipline, respect, and values, and discussed its prospects both globally and within the Olympic movement.

Mrs. Hrbekova’s presence at the Grand Prix Slovakia underlined the significance of karate in the sports landscape and its role in fostering international competition. The discussion between the two leaders reflected a shared vision for the continued growth and recognition of karate worldwide.
