One Month to Go to Anticipated 2026 EKF Senior Championships in Frankfurt

In less than one month, Frankfurt will welcome the 2026 EKF Senior Championships, taking place from May 20 to 24. The city is set to become the centre of karate in Europe as the continent’s top athletes gather for one of the sport’s leading events.

The championship is expected to build on the success of previous editions. The last EKF Senior Championships were held in Yerevan, Armenia, where Germany finished at the top of the medal table with seven medals, including three golds, and Italy and Spain followed in the standings, confirming the strong level of competition across Europe.

Alongside the fight for medals, the championships will also highlight the values of karate through the Para Karate competition. This segment of the event continues to promote inclusion and showcases the sport’s accessibility and spirit.

The 2026 edition also carries added importance. Beyond crowning new champions, the competition will serve as a qualification pathway for the Karate World Cup in November. The top five teams in each of the four team categories will secure their place in Hangzhou. This includes the gold and silver medallists, both bronze medallists, and the fifth-place team that lost to the eventual gold medal winners.

With high stakes and strong participation expected, the 2026 EKF Senior Championships in Frankfurt will play a key role in shaping the season and further strengthening karate’s position in Europe and worldwide.
