EKF Executive Committee meets ahead of EKF Elective Congress

EKF and WKF President Antonio Espinós today chaired the meeting of the Executive Committee of the European Karate Federation in Guadalajara (Spain) ahead of the EKF Congress which is set to take place in the Spanish city on the eve of the 2023 EKF Senior Championships.

Hosted by the President of the Spanish Karate Federation Antonio Moreno, the gathering reviewed a number of key topics to prepare for the plenary session of European Karate later today.

The election for President will be on top of the agenda of the Congress. Mr Espinós is running unopposed for reelection.

Among other items, the gathering of the decision-making body of European Karate analysed the last-minute information on the 2023 EKF Senior Championships to be held in Guadalajara from March 22 to 26. In addition to the crowning of the new continental champions, the tournament in Guadalajara will have tremendous relevance since it will be the main qualifying event for the upcoming edition of the European Games to be held in Poland later this year.

The review of the ParaKarate competition in Guadalajara and progress reports from the different EKF Commissions were also covered at the meeting.

After the meeting EKF and WKF President Antonio Espinós said:

We can all see how much Karate has grown over the past few years in Europe and all over the world. In fact, 48 European countries will be represented here at the 2023 EKF Championships this week. But this growth cannot and should not stop here. We know the potential of our sport and what can be achieved if a strong plan is put in place for Karate. This is what we must set our minds to do in the next years.”

I want to thank the Spanish Karate Federation and its President Antonio Moreno for welcoming all of us here in Guadalajara and for hosting this event which I am sure will show the strength and popularity of Karate in the region.”
