Spain, Germany, and Italy Shine on Final Day of EKF Championships as Event Brilliantly Concludes in Yerevan

The 2025 EKF Senior Championships ended today in Yerevan, Armenia, wrapping up an outstanding week of karate at the highest level. The event showcased the excellence, intensity, and values of the sport. From thrilling bouts to inspiring Para-Karate finals, the championship confirmed Europe’s passion, popularity and quality in karate. Spain, with both titles in Team Kata, and Germany and Italy with the crowns in Female and Male Team Kumite prevailed on the final day.

Spain Claim Both Team Kata Titles

It was a dominant day for Spain in Team Kata. In the Female Team Kata final, Spain edged a tight and thrilling contest against Portugal with a score of 43.4 to 42.4. The Spaniards kept the crown they won last year in Zadar and increased their list of honours that includes the bronze medal at the Karate World Cup. The bronze medals in Yerevan went to Italy and France.

In the Male Team Kata, Spain clinched gold in another nail-biter, defeating Italy 42.7 to 42.4. With this result, Spain improved on their silver from last year’s European championships in Zadar and added to the bronze they earned at the Karate World Cup. France and Turkiye secured the bronze medals.

 

Germany Keep Hold of Female Team Kumite Title

Germany confirmed their dominance in Female Team Kumite, defending the title they claimed last year in Zadar. In the final, Germany controlled the match against France to win 2-0. The result cements Germany’s reputation as a powerhouse in women’s team karate. Italy and Kosovo took home the bronze medals.

 


Italy Triumph in Male Team Kumite Final

In a dramatic Male Team Kumite final, Italy overcame a determined Croatia side 3-2. With the title solved in a gripping final bout, the Italians held their nerve in a match that swung back and forth. In this spectacular fashion, Italy retained the crown they won last year. Greece and France completed the podium with bronze medals.

 

Para-Karate Champions Inspire Yerevan Crowd

The Para-Karate finals brought some of the most emotional moments of the day. In the Blind/Visually Impaired Male K10 category, Nohan Dudon of France claimed gold after beating Alexe Dorin of Romania. Meanwhile, the Blind/Visually Impaired Female K10 final saw Veronika Kamenska of the Czech Republic earn the continental crown.

In the Wheelchair User Female K30 division, Nesrin Cavadzade of Turkiye edged past Knarik Airapetian of Ukraine with a score of 40.80 to 39.40.

The Wheelchair User Male K30 category also went to Turkiye, as Berkay Uslu defeated Alexandre Schoegel of France 43.20 to 40.20.
